The Wood's Edge: cover reveal

So happy to finally introduce you to the cover art for

The Wood's Edge

(The Pathfinders #1)

Coming from WaterBrook Press

April 21 2015

This book marks my foray into series writing, and is a little different from my previous two releases. How so? While I don't yet have an official cover blurb to share, I can say that the series spans a longer time period (twenty years), and deals with more than one generation of two families. It also encompasses a lot more history! But I trust all the elements you've come to expect with my books will be evident.
  • A setting that spans a frontier (cultural as well as topographical)
  • Romance (more than one!)
  • Faith journeys (quite a number of them)
  • That history I mentioned. The Pathfinders series explores the history of the Oneida people, one of the Six Nations of the Iroquois, leading up to the Revolutionary War and encompassing a key turning point in that war.
I'm looking forward to introducing you to a new cast of characters, come April!

  1. Stunning! I LOVE it! Do you get to help design it or is it a surprise? (They did an amazing job on the cover!!!)

    1. Glad you like it, Lisa! I give input about characters and settings at the start of the process, then Kristopher (the artist for my books) takes it away and does his work, coming up with several comps, and at the point in the process where many people at WaterBrook have weighed in on those comps and they think they are close to the final design choice, then me and my agent get a look at their top pick and get to give some input. They take that into consideration, but final decisions are generally up to WB. That's my impression of how this process works between me and WB. It's far more input than I ever expected to have and I'm thankful for it.

  11. Loved the introduction you gave to your new series, plus the cover. It is definitely going to be read! Can't wait. That is the only problem with having favorite authors, when something new comes out, we devour it, then have to sit back and anxiously wait for the next one. But it is well worth the wait.

    1. Brenda, I'm honored to be among those whose books you are impatient for. Yes, I know just what you mean. There are authors I feel the same way about. Sometimes I'll do a re-read just to savor the story a second time. :)

  14. Eek! I cannot wait! Congratulations on the beautiful cover. It really has an "artsy" feel, like a painting, that makes it more than your typical photo-centered cover. And I really like the typography, especially the interlocking "O's" of "Wood's".
