First of the firsts: photo shoot

I expect there are going to be many more "firsts" in my near future than I've experienced in a long while. Some of them honestly I'm trying not to think too much about yet, but yesterday I took care of a fun first: the need to have a few head shots taken for... well, I'm not quite sure what they are for at this early date but they were requested and I aim to please!

Enter my good pal (and fellow writer) Karen Staunton, who volunteered to take a few shots of me. Her whole family are great photographers, so I knew I was in good hands. We had a fun--if a bit chilly--hour of prowling around the woods surrounding her beautiful hilltop home, looking for the perfect trees as backdrops. Pines, towering Doug firs, and a madrone. The madrone was the favorite, hands down.

I came home with a disk full of photos and I think Karen must have used some filters on me (like the anti-blemish filter) because her photos do me more credit than I deserve. Here are a few favorites:

Two more... for Carla. :)

  1. Lori, These are beautiful!! The only problem is picking one - hopefully you don't have to and can use all of them. They look so professional - and belong on a book jacket:)

  2. Thanks Laura! I have a few others I liked too. It's great to have them. Last time I had photos this nice done was back in 2003!

  3. I hope no one clicks on those annoying comments left by spammers (all in Chinese symbols). I delete them as soon as I notice them here. There was one in the first slot of this comment thread until a few minutes ago. They are becoming more frequent of late, and I'm debating the wisdom of going to comment moderation....

  4. Yay I was hoping you'd post more! These are all beautiful Lori. Especially I like the closest-up one, the smile in your eyes. Looks like you and Karen had a fun time with this.

  5. I must agree with Laura, they do belong on a book jacket. They came out great and you are so photogenic. I love them all, and I bet the others are great, too. I love the pose and expression on the top right. How much fun! If you have more post them!

I've been getting some of those spammers, so annoying.

  8. Thanks Ev! I visited your blog and love the post you have up right now. Your friend had a lot of wisdom there. Contentment/happiness has to come from somewhere other than outward circumstances, or it's not lasting.

  9. These are such nice pictures, and it's so exciting that they are author photos!

  10. Nice photos! I particularly like the one in the second row on the left. Black and white is classic, and photographing a face turned slightly to the side is always more flattering. Gorgeous!
