Whadda Ya Know Good?

This is a quick redirect to a post today by agent Rachelle Gardner. It's the most helpful take on the old adage Write What You Know that I've read... maybe ever. If you ever wondered (or struggled with or rebelled against) what it means to "write what you know," you'll want to read Rachelle's post.

  1. That was a good post.

  2. Carla, It was. Posts like Rachelle's remind me that when I struggle to portray characters' whose culture or life experience is vastly different than mine, the solutions don't always need to come from my intellect, or the research knowledge I've managed to stuff into my brain or highlight in a well-thumbed biography. They can, and often should, come from some place in my soul far deeper.
